My Roommate Is a Vampire [Book]

Book Title: My Roommate Is a Vampire

Author: Jenna Levine
Genre: Paranormal Romance / Romantic Comedy
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️  (Three chills—just enough heat to make you blush, but still cozy like a vampire’s silk-lined coffin.)

My Feelings About This Book:

  • ☑ WILL READ AGAIN
  • ☑ MY NEW FAVORITE BOOK
  • ☑ MUST READ FOR EVERYONE WHO LOVES ADORKABLE VAMPIRES
  • ☑ VERY FUNNY AND SWEET
  • ☐ REGRET READING (Not even in an alternate timeline.)
  • ☑ EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE

This book was IT!! It was well written, and the character development was just chef’s kiss 💋. And the banter? Just yeah. I have no words!!

Cassie Greenberg is a broke Chicago artist who stumbles upon an unrealistically cheap apartment listing. Naturally, she’s suspicious (because $200 a month in Chicago?? That’s witchcraft), but desperate times call for weird Craigslist decisions. Enter Frederick J. Fitzwilliam, her absurdly polite, oddly old-fashioned, and painfully attractive new roommate. Spoiler alert: He’s a vampire. But not just any vampire—a gentleman vampire with impeccable style, swoon-worthy manners, and a slight tendency to accidentally ghost (literally) when he’s flustered. Little does she know, her new roomie is a full-fledged vampire who writes her adorable notes (with actual quills) and struggles to navigate modern life. Chaos, romance, and hilarious misunderstandings ensue.

Best Moments:

  • Cassie realizing she’s basically living in a Regency-era Dracula fanfic but rolling with it.
  • Frederick’s painfully formal, Mr. Darcy-esque text messages. (Sir, this is a text, not a 19th-century courtship letter.)
  • The slow-burn romance that had me kicking my feet like a schoolgirl in love.

Worst Moments:

  • The anxiety of waiting for Cassie to realize she’s living with an actual vampire.
  • The fact that the book ended, and I now have an empty void in my heart.
  • Realizing that no matter how hard I manifest, no vampire landlord is going to rent me a $200 room in Chicago.

Favorite Quotes:

  • "If this person turned out to be an axe murderer or a libertarian or some other awful thing, a month-to-month lease would let me leave quickly with no strings attached."
  • "When I think about Cassie never returning to me it makes me sad. Waking up in the evening isn’t exciting anymore now that I know I won’t be seeing her face."

Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Perfection. No notes.)

Final Thoughts:
I love how Frederick was described—his style, his elegance, his entire vibe—just chef’s kiss. If brooding, well-dressed vampires who write you adorable, old-timey letters are your thing, this book is for you. It’s funny, it’s romantic, it’s everything I never knew I needed.

Now, where do I find a Frederick (A girl)  of my own? Asking for a friend. (The friend is me.)
