The Month That Ran Me Over (But heck I’m Still Standing)
aka: Sorry I’ve Been MIA, Life’s Been Lifing
Hey friends ๐
Wow—first of all, I want to start by saying SORRY for ghosting the blog for a little bit. It wasn’t personal, I promise. Life has just been… a whirlwind. Between finishing up school and stepping into the magical chaos that is adult employment, I haven’t had the energy or brain cells left to create content the way I want to. (Anyone else feel like May hit them like a train made of to-do lists and iced coffee?) It was a long month...
I won’t sugarcoat it—balancing work and wanting to have a life is no joke. I’ve been doing the most, but also feeling like I’m doing the least. You know that feeling where your calendar is full, your soul is tired, and your creative spark is somewhere on vacation without you? Yeah, that’s been me. But I’ve missed you all, and I’m excited to be back.
What’s Changing (For Now)
So here’s the tea ๐ต: I’m switching things up for the rest of the year. I’ll only be posting once a week on this main blog so I can keep the quality high and my sanity intact. Less burnout, more fun.
BUT WAIT—THERE’S MORE!
I’m also launching a shiny new secondary blog on Medium! ๐✨
[Here’s the link, go click it, give it love ➡️ Link :)]
This Medium blog is where I’ll be posting the odds and ends—random thoughts, longer essays, things that don’t quite fit here but are still bursting out of my brain. Think of it as the behind-the-scenes, the bonus tracks, the after-credits scene.
Follow me over there if you want a little more chaos, a little more thoughtfulness, and probably a few rants about weird dreams or why cereal tastes better at night– ha it does.
Pride Month Is Here! ๐๐ฅ
Okay, now for the fun part: Happy Pride Month, everyone!
This month, I’ll be posting some awesome Pride-related content both here and on Medium. We’re talking stories, spotlights, reflections, maybe even a few memes. ๐ณ️๐✨ Whether you’re out, questioning, an ally, or somewhere in between—it’s a time to celebrate love, identity, and community. Keep your eyes peeled and your rainbow flags ready.
Feel free to drop any Pride-related topics you want to see covered! My inbox is open and glitter-friendly.
Quick Life Update (Because Why Not)
So, on the personal side: I’m doing okay! A little tired, a little wowed, but definitely still kicking. I just wrapped up my junior year of college and—cue dramatic gasp—I’m officially a senior now. That’s wild. Like… when did that happen? I still feel like a confused freshman trying to figure out where's my classes or how does college work.
I still owe you all my junior year reflection post (yes, I know, I know—I'm working on it). It’s coming, I promise. I have a lot to say and a lot to process. Junior year was a whirlwind of growth, stress, awkwardly finding myself, and trying to pretend I know how to use Excel. That deserves a whole separate post, and I want to do it justice. Stay tuned. ๐๐ญ
But in the midst of all the busyness, May turned out to be a reading renaissance for me—I read 7 books this month! I honestly don’t know how it happened. It wasn’t even planned. One second I was just looking for a little escapism, and the next thing I knew, I was on a full-blown literary binge. Some were 5 star books that kept me up and made me whisper-scream “JUST ONE MORE CHAPTER,” some were soft contemporary reads that made me cry (in a good way), and at least one of them made me throw the book across the room and then immediately pick it back up.
There’s something about reading during transitional moments that just hits differently. I think my brain needed a reset like a little sprinkle of magic and some drama. So I gave myself permission to get lost in stories, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I made this month.
Would y’all want a little blog or Medium post with mini reviews or a “What I Read in May” list? Let me know, I'd love to share the chaos and joy that was my May reading spree. ๐๐ซ
To Wrap It All Up…
Thanks for being patient with me. Thanks for sticking around through the silence and the changes. This blog is something I genuinely love doing, and your support means the world—whether you’re a longtime reader or just stumbled across this rambling little post today.
I’m learning how to navigate the beautiful mess of adulthood, how to manage my time and protect my energy, and how to keep creating in a way that feels meaningful. One blog at a time.
So here's to summer, here's to Pride, here's to surviving another semester, and here’s to being back.
Love y’all lots. Talk soon ๐
– Laurie
P.S. Don’t forget to check out the Medium blog (you know you wanna). And stay tuned for the newsletter—first edition drops soon, and it’s gonna be full of ✨exclusive ✨ content, updates, and probably a meme or two.
